I think Eli is so excited to meet his awesome Daddy that he just couldn't wait any longer!!!
Well, let's say we got the delux tour of the hospital- very detailed.
Yesterday was a major scare! I was having contractions pretty regularly all morning and they were starting to hurt so I told AJ. AJ thought I should call the doctor and at least let them know so we could have peace of mind that everything was fine. Well when I called everything was not fine at all. The doctor told me to head straight to the hospital ASAP.
AJ was in his daily prayer meeting at work but I told the receptionist it was an emergency which got his whole office all worrited- oops. Well AJ dashed out of prayer as fast as he could with Gideon, who nicely offered to drive him to the hospital. They got there right as I was beeing wheeled in to labor and delivery.
It was all so surreal- like a dream or something on TV. I couldn't believe this was actually happening to us and that I was in a hospital bed- very weird.
Well, it was good I went to the hospital because Eli was trying to come out too early. My body was preparing for birth, but since I am only 33 weeks it is still dangerous for him to be born, he would be pre-mature. So immediately the doctors and nurses strapped me up to all these monitors. They whatched Eli's heartbeat and they tracked all my contractions on a big graph. They also hooked me up to an IV to give me stuff to help stop the contractions. The IVs weren't working so they had to give me a series of 3 shots, one every half hour, to try to stop the contractions from coming. Luckily my cervix was not dialated any yet- we had made it to the hospital early enough to prevent labor. I did respond to the shots and the contractions slowed but the doctor thought it'd be best to put me on medicine around the clock to keep the contractions away. Both the shots and the medicine make me feel like I've had 10 cups of coffee on an empty stomach- very jittery, I kinda tremble all the time. It feels weird but at least it is working. AJ and I want Eli to be healthy and I will do whatever I need to do. I have to be on the medicine until I am 36 weeks, from then on it is pretty safe for Eli to be born and they wouldn't try to stop him from coming. So everything is under control- but that was a close one!!! We'll keep you posted on any new developments in the story- hopefully there aren't any for at least 3 more weeks!

With about 2 months left to go, AJ and I are in the final stretch waiting for Eli to come. We are so excited for him to be here but there is still so much to do! Also AJ and I are taking advantage of every minute we get together knowing that in the future this quality time together will be a bit harder to get.
Our house is really coming together so nicely. We are getting very settled into it and it is really feeling like home. I was out of town this past weekend in Orlando and Jacksonville for baby showers and while I was gone AJ did so much to bless me! I came home and he had painted our front door black which really looked good and he bought new door handles and a door knocker. Then inside, he painted our fireplace and hung more pictures up. Then on our deck he had bought us the patio set we had been looking at- it was all so great and such a blessing to me. He is the best husband in the world!!!!
The baby showers were all great. We got so many nice things, AJ and I were definately blessed by it all. Everything we got was needed and useful. Plus the showers were a lot of fun too- it was great to see so many people that I love.

Morning Commute - No Passengers.
As the bus pulled up to L'Enfant Plaza at 7:44, I grabbed my lunch and coffee and made my way up the aisle and out the door, into the late spring heat of Washington DC. I grabbed the free daily Express at the top of the escalator. As I passed through the upper level of the station the Greenline let out 500 hurried commuters, all heading to the same location, the lower level Orangeline platform -- exactly where I was heading. I stood in line waiting to move down the escalator to the platform. Simulatneously I heard the Public Announcement, "We are currently experiencing a delay on the Orange and Blue lines toward Vienna and Fanconia-Springfield" and I noticed the entire platform filled with anxious commuters looking into and empty Orangeline train. The lighted destination board read "No Passengers."
The situation became interesting very quickly as the platform reached capacity, but the escalators continued to usher people into a motionless crowd. Where do you go? You can't walk up -- the entire escalator is pack and commuters continue to make their way toward the lower platform. All of a sudden I was trapped on a moving escalator being forced into the motionless crowd. I dodged a couple of folks and moved my way down toward the end of the platform, just hoping to board the train. 10 minutes later, we were on our stop-n-go way towards Vienna, and my final destination, Ballston.
It was interesting to see how people dealt with the situation as they were literally forced into a group of people that couldn't move. Those coming down the escalator didn't realize that the group was immoveable, that the platform had reached capacity. A fun morning.
