happily home

Buffington, Andrew Jones (AJ)
Entered life 5/14/79 and entered eternal life 10/31/04, due to a tragic automobile accident.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, November 6th, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at 575 Tuskawilla Road, Winter Springs, with a reception to follow.
AJ’s 25 years on earth were full! He was devoted to Jesus Christ and loved His people. Always exuding a contagious passion for living and compassion for people, always uplifting and encouraging, he never met a challenge he didn’t like.
He delivered the commencement address at Oviedo High School in ’97 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Flagler College in ’01. He touched the lives of those he worked with at Capernaum Communications Group and Celebration Church in Jacksonville, the International Justice Mission in Washington DC, and Propeller advertising in Miami. And he touched the lives of those he ministered with on missions: the poor in Ecuador and Bolivia, and the American Indians in North Dakota. He was a talented artist and worship leader and used his gifts to bless God’s people.
He goes before his three-month-old son Eli, wife Kellie, his brother Peter and wife Sara, his sister Whitney, and his parents Barbara and Carl.
Instead of flowers, offerings can be made out to “The Eli Jones Buffington Trust Fund” and sent to Kellie Buffington at 871 Bentley Green Circle, Winter Springs, FL 32708.

You are truly in our prayers. We saw your blog from Brandon & Jennifer's. The love your wrote about was truly sent from God. Rest in Him.

There is not a life that AJ encountered that was left untouched. Indeed, he went through life with joy, an uplifting spirit and love. I will deeply miss his smile, encouraging words of friendship, and witnessing the unbelievable love and devotion for Kellie and his little boy. I will miss you AJ, but rejoice that you are with our Savior and King! We remain here and will keep walking with and loving Kellie until we all see you in heaven. With love.

My Dearest Kellie,

What a shock this is to all. You have been in my thought since I heard about the accident. God has placed you in my thoughts so you will be continually lifted up in prayer...that is how much he loves you! I do not have any words of wisdom or advice on how to get through this season, but I can tell you that "HE" has it covered! I love you and your family dearly. God bless! If you have any needs, I'm here for you!

In His Service,
Dale Swain

Dear Kellie and Eli,
Our thoughts are with you constantly. In the short time we knew AJ, he made such a beautiful impact on the Rasmussen side of the family. We are all thankful that we had the opportunity and priviledge of knowing him and having him be a part of our family, too.

Please know we will always be there for you and Eli. You are constantly in our prayers.

With all our love,

Aunt Evelyn and Family

Dear Kellie!
After visiting this website all the time from Eli's birth until now, we feel that we almost know your family. You have written so many beautiful things about eachother! We are so sorry for your loss, Kellie, and we are praying for you and Eli constantly. I hope you will feel what the Lord says: "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you." Isaiah 66:13
Love from some of your family in Norway; Kjersti, Silje, Espen, Steinar and Elisabeth

Kellie, this love you write about between Aj, Eli and yourself transcends time and place. The person that AJ is, and the relationship that you share blesses, teaches and encourages so many of us that know you. AJ unconditionally motivated me in my faith in Christ and in my abilities as a graphic designer, when we were in college together. His excitment in marrying you made us fall in love again with our spouses. The birth of your son made us realize the strength in family. In his passing, these things intensify. Remember that your confidence and strength are in Christ. My husband, Daniel, and I will pray for a peace that passes all understanding be given to you. Though we've not met you - my heart is with you dearly. My prayers consistently. And my gratitude for being a part of your lives. with love, Lauren Shancey - Jack, Ormond Beach, FL.

I knew AJ only briefly, one semester, when he led worship for Intervarsity at UNF in Fall 2002. I'll never forget how gladly he welcomed me into his apartment when I needed a place to stay the week before classes began that semester. I praise God for AJ.

Kellie and Eli, my prayers and my love are with you. God bless you.

Kellie,
Friay evening we took Brandon to the airport in Indianapolis and he told us about your accident and the death of AJ. Brandon and Jennifer expressed many times how they felt so blest to have you in their lives, and AJ as an accountablitlity partner. We are so sorry you and Eli must walk this path, but there are many who will walk with you, and pray you through. God especially will keep His promises to you. He is faithful! We celebrate Andrew's life with you and praise the Lord he is now happily home!

you don't know me, but I came upon your journal here by searching for your name after I found an article about the crash. I was one of the people on the Turnpike who stopped and tried to help after the accident, before the cops arrived. I don't even know how to express how sorry I am for your loss. This whole week has been a blur for me because of what I saw that night, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I have cried so many times this week thinking about you, your son, and especially your husband. One of the articles said you and your son were both still in critical condition, and I'm so happy to know that you're okay now. I too live in Miami (I'm a student at UM), and I just wanted to say that if there is anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to ask. I know it's an odd offer (especially when it's online), but I am sincere about that. my email is c.akbari@umiami.edu. You are definitely in my prayers.

(We wrote something about AJ on our blog)

A.J. was a real inspiration to me during our college years. As a fellow Lewis-Wiley Scholar and partner in ministry, I respected and loved A.J. for who he was as a man of God willing to serve others before himself. We all know that he has gone before us to the loving embrace of Jesus.

Most people could never say that they knew what they were put on earth to accomplish. A.J. knew his purpose in life and fulfilled it completely. I thank God for A.J. and his affect on thousands upon thousands of lives for Christ.

Grace and Peace,

I came upon your site by way of Brandon and Jennifer's. I could not believe it when I read it. I had gone to your blog before and was amazed at how strong your love for each other was. I am saddened and heartbroken at this news but know that for some reason, AJ is in a better place. I do not know how this feels, but am crying for you and praying for your healing. You are an inspiration to everyone. God bless you and Eli for all of time.

I am very sorry. Praying for you.

Dear Kellie I think about you all the time and am continually in prayer for you and Eli... I am just hoping and believing that our prayers are strong and that God's hand of comfort is continually wrapped around you always!

My heart was broken when I heard the devistating news of AJ. Later that I night I went to my weekly Bible Study where I was reminded that God desires to not just heal our hearts but sow our heart back together one stich at a time. My tears and prayers are with you all!

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be moved, and though the mountains be toppled into the depths of the sea;
Though its waters rage and foam, and though the mountains tremble at its tumult.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be overthrown; God shall help her at the break of day.
The nations make much ado, and the kingdoms are shaken; God has spoken, and the earth shall melt away.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

Come now and look upon the works of the Lord, what awesome things he has done on earth.
It is he who makes war to cease in all the world; he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear, and burns the shield with fire.
"Be still, then, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth."
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

-Psalm 46, which has spoken to me in time of great loss.
